Cycling Tips (and Sins) with Gladys Hamilton

Safe cycling sure is a hot topic these days, rarely does a day go by without at least one national media outlet printing/posting something on the subject.

But this is not a new thing, even back in 1936 cycling safety was being drummed into the general population. In this clip Ladies Professional Cycling Champion Gladys Hamilton illustrates some practical advice and also ‘some unforgivable cycling sins’.

“Passing on the offside and cutting in is a quick way to the mortuary.”

“A lorry is capable of turning into a side road and hearse at the same time.”

“Riding without holding the handlebars, about as clever as giving a balloon to a hedgehog.”
